Brampton Film Club are showing two films this month:
On Saturday 29th January is The Courier (12A). Featuring the award winning Benedict Cumberbatch, this revolves around the Cold War spy Greville Wynne and his Russian source as they try to put an end to the Cuban Missile Crisis. The film starts at 7.30pm and you can buy tickets here.
Thursday 27th January: Cafe Scientifique.
This months Cafe Scientifique will focus on “How Cumbria’s beavers can help us battle the climate and biodiversity crisis” with Heather Devey. Tickets are £4 in advance (£5 on the door) and can be purchased here. You can choose to attend in person or via zoom and please indicate how you will attend when purchasing.

Read and Chat is a new informal group to chat about books at Brampton Community Centre!

Tai Chi with Fiona: Monday 09.45am – 10.45am
Tai Chi can help improve balance, coordination and flexibility, ease arthritis, are effective forms of exercise for osteoporosis, and can improve and help balance mood and mental states. Tai Chi is also great for improving general health and wellbeing, can aid in stress relief, facilitate rehabilitation after many types of illness, provide focus and help to centre your energy on many levels.
Feel Now Yoga: Mondays at 12pm
The classes are suitable for beginners and anyone with joint issues or muscular aches and pains. These classes are designed to benefit people who want a sensible approach to yoga to counteract the stresses of modern life, learn how to move with ease & get a good night’s sleep. £7 per class. Nicola Ivinson School of Dance: Mondays 4pm onwards, Saturdays 9am onwards.
The main aim of Nicola’s dance school is to give children the opportunity to learn various dance styles while having fun and meeting new friends. Further details here.
Clubbercise & Megamixfit with Emma: Monday 6-8pm.
Clubbercise and Megamixfit with Emma offers Fun DANCE fitness classes IN THE DARK! Complete with Disco lights Glowsticks & 90s music. Feels more like night out!
Megamixfit is a fab class, with music from different genres. We guarantee you be singing and smiling the whole way through! Taught in a darkened atmosphere with disco lights and UV, your going to love the Megamix party. Some of the songs on the playlist include: Tina Turner – Proud Mary; Lady Gaga – Born This Way; The Weather Girls – It’s Raining Men; The Killers – Mr Brightside & Hairspray’s – You Can’t Stop The Beat. Brampton Arts and Crafts group: Monday 7-9pm in the Hut
“We are a small club based in the rural community of Brampton, Cumbria. Our members use a variety of mediums from oil through to coloured pencils. A variety of subjects is done by the individual along with monthly club challenges. Two exhibitions a year. Friendly bunch and we make everybody welcome too. Brampton Community Orchestra: Tuesday 7.30 – 9.15pm
This group of local musicians gathers to play all kinds of instrumental music (grade 5/6 and upwards). The music is specially arranged to be challenging, but possible. They always attempt to get the best results, but in a spirit of friendly good humour. If you play an instrument and might be interested in joining, please get contact them here.
Yoga and Chair Yoga with Hilary: Tuesdays 10am -12.15 & 5.30 – 7.30pm
Hilary Watson offers two Yoga sessions with us on a Tuesday. Hilary’s Morning session runs from 10.00am-11.00am, Her chair yoga runs from 11.15 – 12.15pm, and her evening session runs from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.
Zumba (Young at Heart): Tuesday 12.00 – 12.45pm
This Zumba class will be returning on the 11th January to get you dancing those pounds off! You can find out more information here.
Knit and Knatter: Wednesdays 9.30- 12pm
The group would love to welcome new members! Knit & Knatter costs just £2.50 each week, which includes a drink and a biscuit. You can bring your own knitting, crochet or sewing project, or you can help make items for various charities with their group wool supplies. They’re a friendly, sociable group with varying levels of skill – there is always someone to help you out if you are a novice!
Chojinkai Karate: Wednesday 5.30 – 8.30pm
Chojinkai Karate (pronounced Cho-jin-Kai) is the name of the Wado-Ryu based style of Karate founded in 1974 by their President & Chief Instructor Doug James 8th Dan. From there it has gone from strength to strength to satisfy the demand for high quality Martial Arts tuition in Cumbria and the North of England. There are also very successful Clubs in Cockermouth, Egremont, Haltwhistle, Hexham, Kendal, Newcastle, Workington and Whitehaven. 2014 saw the club proudly celebrate its 40th anniversary.
