Café Scientifique Brampton
Cafe Scientifique Brampton is a place where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, anyone can come to explore the latest ideas in science and technology.
Meetings take place simultaneously live at Brampton Community Centre and via Zoom on the last Thursday of the month, except December.

Title: Peering Beneath the Mud
Speaker: Richard Newman
Synopsis:
The talk will discuss all forms of remote sensing used for archaeological discovery including metal detection, Lidar, air and satellite photography, geophysics, ground penetrating radar and multi spectral analysis. It will look at the merits and pitfalls of each technique and their appropriateness of use in different circumstances. Richard will even cover dowsing.
Biography:
Richard’s expertise is gathered through a 40+ year career as a professional archaeologist including having been the Director of the Lancaster University Archaeological Unit, County Archaeologist for Cumbria and most recently the county archaeologist for Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
